As a Personnel Officer managing the creation and implementation of her employer’s Affirmative Action Program (AAP), our President, Dawn S. Hyde, SPHR, realized that other companies could use some outside help in preparing their AAPs. As a result, Berkshire Associates was incorporated in 1983 for the purpose of human resources consulting, software development, and HR training. With software programming assistance from her father, Donald Stauffer, Berkshire created the prototype version of GREATAAP software that was used and enhanced to create excellent affirmative action plans and consulting support.

In recent years, Berkshire has created additional innovative software packages including BALANCEworks, a complete affirmative action software line that helps put the action back in affirmative action. The package includes BALANCEaap, BALANCEpay, BALANCEtrak, and BALANCEact.

Berkshire has made tremendous strides in the area of affirmative action plan preparation and salary equity analyses using product and process innovation. With a national base of over 3,000 satisfied clients, Berkshire has emerged as a leader in the industry.
